Community Toolbox Canberra is a community-led, volunteer-run tool and equipment library. It is membership based and, for a small annual fee, members can borrow a wide range of tools and equipment for activities such as DIY, craft, cooking, home projects, leisure activities and more.
Better use of resources
The average tool only sees 13 minutes of action before being discarded. That is an awful waste of resources.
Save money
For the cost of about one tool each year, you can borrow hundreds from the Toolbox.
Low risk
Instead of buying equipment to try a new activity, you can borrow what you need and only buy when and if you decide you want to continue.
Save space
Whether you live in an apartment, have downsized or simply don't want so much 'stuff' in your space, borrowing is perfect. There is no need to store equipment you only need infrequently.
More sustainable
The sharing model decreases the need to buy tools and equipment and increases the intensity of use, thus a better use of the items already in circulation.
