The Sustainable Home Advice Program is our one stop for Canberrans looking to begin their energy transition, or just need some extra help. We can help you understand your energy use and the best ways to make your home more sustainable.

Phone and email advice
Our team can help you save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
We love sharing smart choices to improve your home’s energy efficiency and connect you support that’s right for you. We can help you with:
- free or low-cost ways to save energy with heating, cooling, hot water and appliances in the kitchen and laundry
- transitioning your home from fossil-fuel gas to all electric.
- home improvements to increase energy efficiency like:
- insulation and window treatments
- energy-efficient heating and cooling systems for your home
- ways to make your garden adaptable to the changing environment and save water.
- electric vehicles
- ACT Government rebates, programs and supports that you may be eligible for.
Get a Home Energy Assessment
If you are a homeowner or a renter and live in the ACT, you can ask us for a free home energy assessment. You’ll get expert advice to help you make your home more comfortable while reducing your energy use and costs. Depending on the season, renters may also receive a range of free energy saving materials to improve the energy efficiency and comfort of your home.
Our expert energy assessor will call you or come to your home to do the assessment. The assessor will suggest simple no or low-cost actions and upgrades you can do to make your home more comfortable, while reducing your energy use and costs. You will be sent a tailored report that includes energy saving tips after the visit.

Whether you’re a home owner or renter, it's easy to use our Home Energy Assessment Webtool. You'll get a tailored report with advice on how to reduce energy use and keep your home comfortable.
