Electric bikes and scooters

The ACT's extensive network of pathways are ideal for e-bikes and e-scooters. And they’re affordable and portable compared to running a car. Hire dockless e-scooters in some parts of the ACT or buy your own. You’ll reduce emissions while you’re at it.

New ways to get around

Canberra is an easy city to get around on foot or by bike. Electric bikes are great to take you a bit further, or to carry things or people. E-scooters are a good option when the walk is a bit too far or you are in a hurry. Combine these options with public transport for longer trips.

Riding an e-bike or e-scooter can add extra convenience, comfort and reliability to your travels. And by swapping out car trips, you’ll help reduce your carbon footprint.

E-bikes and e-scooters

You can buy your own e-bike or e-scooter, or hire dockless e-scooters in some parts of the ACT. Shared e-scooters may be available in all regions of Canberra by the end of 2022.

You can also try out an electric bike by borrowing one from Canberra's Electric Bike Library or attend a demonstration day to compare different types.

Follow the ACT's rules for e-scooters and how bikes, pedestrians and cars share roads and paths.

If you notice a damaged pathway while out and about, you can report it.
