Canberra is getting ready for an all-electric future – you can too!

19 Apr 2023

The ACT Government has collaborated with Australia's leading consumer advocacy group, CHOICE, to create a new online tool that will help making the switch from gas to electric an easier transition for Canberrans.

CHOICE is an independent, subscription-based service that makes shopping easier by connecting consumers with unbiased product reviews to suit every budget.

This Australian-first partnership will provide the ACT community with free access to this service, which usually sits behind a paywall, making it easier for Canberrans to access to the best independent advice on electric appliances that best meet their needs and budget.

With this new tool you can create a personalised energy transition plan and get an estimate on how much money you will save by swapping out gas for electric appliances.

Taking about 10 minutes, the tool will:

  • Help you identify when appliances in your home will need to be swapped out
  • Showcase the latest energy efficient electric appliances on the market that are best suited to your individual household needs
  • Provide cost estimates for upgrades
  • Provide estimates for cost and emissions saving because of your upgrades.

Finding enough time to research the best electric appliances available and ones that suit your budget can be hard. This new tool will help you explore cost savings for your home to make the transition from gas to electric at a time that is right for you, and best for your budget all in one place.

Jump online and plan your energy transition today by visiting www.energy.act.gov.au.
