More energy efficiency rebates available for low-income households

For Canberra’s pensioners and veterans, the Home Energy Support Program in now expanding to include new rebates of $2,500 to help you save on bills, increase home comfort and reduce greenhouse gas emissions:

Combined with a rebate of up to $2,500 for the installation of rooftop solar already available through the Home Energy Support Program, low-income Canberra households can now access up to $5,000 to help make their next choices electric.

Eligible households can now reduce their upfront cost to purchase reverse cycle heating and cooling systems, hot water heat pumps, and electric cooktops/ovens.

The Program has an option to pay for the rest of your chosen products with an interest-free loan.

To be eligible for the rebate, you must:

  • be a resident of the ACT who holds an Australian Government Pensioner Concession Card or a Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card
  • have attended a free Home Energy Support workshop which will provide you with information on the program and how to apply
  • have an eligible property, which includes that you own and occupy the home in which the product will be installed.
