Rebates now available for pensioners and veterans to undertake home energy upgrades

31 Mar 2022

Australian Pensioner Concession Card and Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card holders can now apply to access rebates to undertake sustainable home upgrades and install products to help save energy.

ACT Government today announced the Home Energy Support program. Eligible homeowners can get a rebate of up to $2,500 to install rooftop solar. An additional rebate of up to $2,500 will be available soon to install energy efficient products, including reverse cycle heating and cooling systems, ceiling insulation, and hot water heat pumps.

The program will be rolled out in two phases and the ACT Government is now inviting applications for the rooftop solar rebate. As part of phase two, eligible households will be able to apply for the additional rebate for energy efficient products and upgrades by mid-2022.

As our climate continues to change, this program will support those in our community who may be least able to make changes to their homes in the years to come.

Participants can save on their energy bills, increase home comfort and feel good about doing their part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Helping ACT homes and community organisations to transition their properties to cheaper and more sustainable energy sources is a key component of the government’s strategy to reduce emissions in the ACT.

The Home Energy Support program will contribute to achieving a sustainable, resilient future for the ACT as we work towards our target of net zero emissions by 2045.
