Royal Canberra Show goes plastic free

25 Feb 2022

Heading to the Royal Canberra Show this weekend?

If you are having a meal or a snack you may notice something different with the packaging. This year the Show is banning certain single-use plastic items.

In addition to not having single-use plastic cutlery, drink stirrers and polystyrene containers which were banned in the ACT last year, the Royal Canberra Show will also be free of:

*            plastic straws (exemptions for people who need it)

*            plastic takeaway containers

*            plastic plates

*            plastic bowls

Reducing plastic waste means there will be less litter in our beautiful ACT parks, lakes and waterways.

Let’s keep the momentum going to reduce plastic waste. For more information on plastic free events, and on the ACT single-use plastics ban visit the Single Use Plastics page.
