Six new EV fast charging bays installed at the Royal Australian Mint

05 Sep 2023

New public electric vehicle (EV) chargers have been installed at the Royal Australian Mint. They are part of ACT Government’s public EV charger roll-out.

The charging bank is suitable for any type of EV. It can charge six EVs at one time with five CCS cables and one CHAdeMO cable available.

These chargers are Direct Current (DC) and each have a maximum capacity of 150kW. This capacity may vary depending on the model of EV and the number of chargers in use at one time.

This is now the biggest bank of fast chargers in the ACT that can be used by any type of EV. This also means the total number of public chargers available in the ACT is over 100.

Installing public chargers in key tourism locations such as the Royal Australian Mint helps to support rapid growth in EV uptake.

These chargers will encourage people to drive their EV when they use the playing fields around the Mint. They will help those with an EV who work in the area.

ACT Government Public EV Charger Roll-out

The ACT Government has committed to expand the total number of public EV chargers in the ACT to at least 180 by 2025. This includes both government-funded and privately funded public chargers.

The ACT is leading the nation to drive down transport emissions and expand the number of zero emissions vehicles and public charging stations in the ACT.

The ACT has the highest rate of electric vehicle ownership per capita in Australia with almost 5,300 zero emissions vehicle registered.

Installing more public chargers will support the ACT’s efforts to electrify our city’s transport system and tackle transport emissions, which currently make up about 60% of all emissions in the Territory.
