Solar on the way for multi-unit apartments

26 Jun 2023

More Canberrans will soon be able to enjoy the savings and benefits of solar.

Over the next two years, $3.6million will make it easier for body corporates to install rooftop solar on multi-unit apartments.

Over 2,100 dwellings will benefit, which will provide much needed cost of living support to Canberrans living in apartments.

The Commonwealth will provide $1.8m under its Solar Banks initiative. The ACT Government will match funding as part of the Sustainable Household Scheme.

Approximately 92% of apartments will be eligible for the solar upgrades.

Apartment owners will still be able to apply for a Sustainable Household Scheme loan. Loans of up to $15,000 are available for upgrades such as induction cooktops, heating and cooling and electric vehicles.
