Sustainable Household Scheme receives $50m boost

09 Feb 2023

The ACT Government has committed an extra $50 million to the Sustainable Household Scheme. The Scheme provides zero interest loans to Canberrans to help with sustainable upgrades to their premises.

Almost 9,000 households have taken advantage of the Scheme since it opened in July 2021.

ACT homes have installed a range of sustainable upgrades under the scheme, including:

  • solar panel systems
  • batteries
  • reverse cycle heating and cooling systems
  • hot water heat pumps and
  • efficient electric stove tops.

More than 100 new electric cars and 50 used electric cars have also been purchased with the help of zero interest loans under the Scheme.

The Scheme is an important part of making sure Canberra remains a vibrant, progressive, inclusive, innovative, and sustainable city. A city where all Canberrans enjoy a zero-emissions future.
