Connecting Community-led projects in Canberra

12 Jul 2023

There's a new online tool that Canberrans can use to easily explore and connect with local climate action initiatives in their area.

The Community Projects resource showcases and connect people with community-led climate action projects.

The ACT is committed to taking action on climate change and becoming a net zero emissions city by 2045. Supporting Canberrans to make more sustainable choices will help reduce emissions. We know that Canberrans care about the environment and the ACT if full of passionate people working to make a difference for our climate.

These projects are in our communities and range from small to large. One great example is the Community Toolbox Canberra, which is a volunteer-run tool and equipment library. Community Toolbox Canberra allows members to borrow a wide range of tools for activities for home DIY activities.

Pedal Power is another great example and plays an active part in reducing the number of cars on the roads, by encouraging more Canberrans on bikes.

You can now discover climate action projects around Canberra by using an online map.

Every person can be part of the ACT’s climate action journey. The project will help people to have an opportunity to be inspired by the climate action efforts taking place around Canberra.

If you have a community driven sustainability or climate action project, you can submit your story.
